The mid-month rush may be behind us, but Fort Lauderdale is just hitting its stride. As the red carpets roll out and the community comes together for our favorite four-legged friends, the third week of February proves why this city is the ultimate destination for “lifestyle tastemakers.” Here is what you need to know for the week of Feb 16.

1. The 40th Anniversary FLIFF Kickoff (Feb 20–28) The Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival is hitting a major milestone this week. Celebrating 40 years of independent cinema, the festival officially opens this Friday.

  • The “Miami Nights” Party (Feb 21): Don’t miss the World Premiere of Miami Nights followed by a massive block party. It’s the definitive “see and be seen” event of the month, featuring red carpet arrivals and Q&As with global directors.

  • Tastemaker Move: Catch a screening at Savor Cinema—the courtyard garden is the most charming place in the city for a pre-film glass of wine.

2. VCA Walk for the Animals (Feb 21) Saturday morning belongs to the pets! The VCA Walk for the Animals takes over Esplanade Park starting at 7:00 AM. As proud supporters of the Humane Society of Broward County, we love seeing thousands of locals and their pups walking along the New River. It’s a beautiful morning of community spirit and a great way to kick off your weekend.

3. Riverwalk Chili Cook-Off (Feb 21) After the walk, stay downtown for the Riverwalk Chili Cook-Off at Esplanade Park. From 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, you can sample the best chili in the city while enjoying live music. It’s a Fort Lauderdale tradition that perfectly captures our relaxed, waterfront vibe.

4. Jazz & Bossa Nova at The Shorely (Feb 20) Looking for a sophisticated Friday night? Head to The Shorely at Marina Village for a sunset session of world-class jazz. It’s the perfect vantage point to watch the yachts return to their slips after the Boat Show rush has subsided.

The Real Estate Perspective As the Film Festival draws creative professionals and investors to our historic districts, we are seeing a renewed focus on the architectural character of Sailboat Bend and Tarpon River. These neighborhoods offer a unique blend of heritage and modern potential. If you’re inspired by the stories on screen and want to find a home with a story of its own, let’s talk.
